To our Families and Friends ~
Having a second grade son and a daughter in high school, our home looked like so many others throughout the country. There were many hugs, sharing of just enough, but not too many details and answers to questions which shouldn’t have to be asked. I have learned that my emotions and responses, as mom, gauge the temperature of our entire household.
This morning, our son Garrett climbed into bed with my husband and me and immediately asked some more questions. He obviously processed some things overnight and needed to express his fears and be comforted. In the safety of our bed, we allowed him to lead the conversation and gave him simple, but truthful answers.
In a situation like this, it is difficult to find any positives. I saw this posting from CareNet. I thought it was great. It encouraged me as a parent, and I wanted to share it with you.My thoughts and prayers are with you, dear ones, as we process and move forward from this tragedy. I thought of this verse as I have thought of you…
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
Sending you love and hugs,
~ Michelle Dettman
Thank you CareNet, we could not have said it any better. ♥
While we are still so saddened by yesterday’s events in Newtown, we are encouraged by the knowledge of who our ultimate helper in Christ is.
