Surprisingly, a joyous post from our Adoption Answer FB Page brought on an unprecedented amount of backlash from a group who strongly oppose adoption. In reading through their hate filled messages (which have been deleted and banned), it is obvious that they have had some sort of negative experience. They ban together so that others will hopefully be made to feel and think that adoption is disgusting and damaging. Truly, my heart goes out to them. However, we are a company and ministry that honors and supports those who CHOOSE adoption. Our Expectant Moms are well educated and counseled regarding their choice.
And that is the key… CHOICE. There is no force, pressure, twisting of arms, ultimatum… Adoption is chosen for a variety of reasons, but ultimately, it is personal choice made from the foundation of a mother’s love for her child. It is the greatest of sacrifices, made from the conviction that her child needs the emotional, financial, non-addictive, non-transient, stability that provides a home, family environment and traditions that she is unable to fulfill at that time. It is not only an emotional choice, it is a logical one. Much thought, prayer, counsel have taken place in this process. It is not one which is made haphazardly or on a whim.
When adoption is attacked on our page, it will not be tolerated. EVER. I, seriously, become the Mama Bear. Birth Moms are not thoughtless. Adoptive Families are not predators. Adoption Answer is not in business for the dollars. Every situation is miraculous. Every Birth Mom who comes to us for help, receives that, and more. Every Adoptive Family is represented with honor. And, most importantly, the handiwork and goodness of God is more than evident during each process. To Him be the glory for the families that are created with our help.
Adoption IS a life changing process. We have had so many of our Birth Moms that have come to the Lord, gotten clean and free from addiction, received an education, been able to accomplish stability for herself and her other children – all while gifting their child with the legacy of family that brings her comfort, joy and no regret.
We are called to help those who find themselves faced with the choice of adoption for their child. We are called to help those who have, they themselves, been called to adopt. We are honored to answer that calling.
Wishing you blessings and hope on your journey.
